October 2018

Formulary and Managed Entry Subgroup (FMESG)

Following their regular quarterly review, the reviewed and updated GM Antimicrobial Guidelines are now available on the GMMMG website

Following the recent safety review ulipristal acetate (Esmya) for management of fibroids has been reinstated to formulary as GREEN (following specialist initiation) for intermittent use and RED for single course of treatment prior to surgery. A leaflet to support prescribing and appropriate monitoring in primary care has been produced (see information leaflets).

Following GM-wide consultation and approval by CSB, actions from the July meeting of FMESG have been published. Changes include:

  • Addition of emollient bath additives for management of eczema in children to the DNP list
  • Addition of Therabite for management of trismus to the DNP list
  • RAG status for donepezil, memantine, rivastigmine and galantamine changed to GREEN
  • Paravit-CF has been added to the formulary and Grey list, for use in patients with cystic fibrosis
  • Tadalafil has replaced avanafil as the alternative option for management of ED
  • Liraglutide has replaced lixisenatide as the first choice of GLP1 mimetic
  • Insulin lispro biosimilar has replaced Humalog as a first choice option in patients requiring an insulin analogue
  • Links to relevant NICE and MHRA guidance have been added to formulary

The formulary and RAG list have been updated to reflect these changes.

The following actions were proposed at the September 2018 FMESG meeting and have been sent to CSB for pre-approval. We now seek comments on these proposals. This consultation period is open until 5pm Wednesday 14th November 2018.

Pathways and Guidelines Development Subgroup (PaGDSG)

On behalf of the GMMMG Pathways and Guidelines Development Subgroup, a Greater Manchester-wide Guideline for the Management of Vitamin D in Adults, Children, Pregnancy and Breastfeeding is in development. We now seek comments on this draft. This consultation period is open until 03/12/2018

The supporting inhaler guide for the GM COPD Management Plan has been updated with the inclusion of Trelegy. In addition, since Airsalb has been discontinued, this product has been replaced with Airomir. (See Clinical Guidance and pathways).
